Mother Therapy, which provides an innovative treatment method of child psychology, was developed based on the Theory of Mimind.
The Theory of Mimind analyzes and interprets the mechanisms of human mind and psychology from a completely novel perspective.
It is quite different from any conventional psychological theory found in the field of psychology or psychiatry. It explains how human mind
operates to be manifested as psychology connected with the physical functions.
In the Theory of Mimind, human psychological development process consists of 4 phases : the phase of survival (under age 5), the phase of
adaptation to relationships (age 5 to 13), the phase of formation of self-identity (age 13 to 19), the phase of self-actualization (from age 19).
Each phase requires different elements of experiences for healthy psychological development. In the process of psychological development,
children will necessarily go through some degree of psychological instabilities with trial and error. These problems can be easily solved by
adjusting their environment and adopting adequate parenting strategies.
Boys are likely to develop psychological problems based on their habits of managing stress and moods of fun and pleasure. Girls are likely to
develop psychological problems based on their habits of managing wounds and feelings of love and happiness. When their experiences
accord with their habits and thought standards, their psychological stability is restored.
Adults including parents, teachers, and counselors are living in the phase of self-actualization with already formed habits and thought
standards. Applying identical standards to adults and children to diagnose and deal with psychological problems may aggravate children’s
problems instead of solving them.
From this perspective, it is dangerous and not right to consider children’s psychological problems as psychological disorders. Labeling
children’s psychological problems as psychological disorders will only create more problems. Children with psychological problems can
restore healthy psychology and live happily when mothers learn and apply Mother Therapy, which is based on the Theory of Mimind.
